About the Artist

Jacque Brough

Jacquelin Brough was born and educated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended Hussian School of Art, a four year art school, where she specialized in advertising and illustration studying under some Philadelphia notable instructors such as Oliver Grimley (drawing), Mr. Ronald LeHue (illustration) and Bill Crawford (advertising). She then attended Fleicher Art Memorial, where she studied sculpture under the late Frank Gasparo (director U. S Mint 39 years).

Upon graduation, Jacquelin freelanced and also worked full-time for Disc Makers Record Company, designing and illustrating LPs, CDs and cassettes. Following Discmakers, she worked for Mitchell & Resnikoff Advertising Agency as a graphic artist. There she designed for various accounts including Tarkett Flooring, Amerigas, and Safeguard to name a few. Later she worked inhouse for I. Goldberg, The Great Outdoor Store, responsible for all advertising print including newspaper inserts, ads, direct mail, catalogs and signage. From 1998 to 2008 she was employed at Collectable Records, responsible at first for advertising, catalogs, sales sheets, etc. and later on for DVD and CD package design.

From 2008 to 2010 she has taken courses in web design, broadening her job perspectives in the commercial art field, bringing us to the present day.

Jacquelin was born with a natural talent to sculpt but had to learn how to draw. She enjoys painting and working in various mediums depending on the project: oils, acrylics, watercolor, plastiline, clay, papier mâché and crafts.

Jacquelin has exhibited and sold in the Rittenhouse Square Art Show, JP’s Art Gallery, DaVinci Art Alliance, The Atlantic City Art Center and Orchard Artworks. Her sculpture “Merlin the Magician” received first place from the DaVinci Art Alliance in Philadelphia.

After joining the Hamburg Area Arts Alliance, Jacquelin and her husband, Del Connor, who had joined the Alliance earlier in the year, volunteered to serve on the Arts Steering Committee and they also have offered their talents with visual displays and design.
