About the Artist

Karla R. Jensen

Karla R. Jensen moved to Hamburg, PA in 2017 along with her husband, Rev. Mark D. Jensen. She has enjoyed a career in radio, televsion, magazine publishing, the arts, sales and marketing, and more. Karla grew up in Audubon, IA and then attended Dana College in Blair, NE. She graduated with a BA Double Major in Speech/Theatre and Communications/Broadcasting. In 2009, Karla became the Executive Director of the Beaver Dam Area Arts Association at the Seippel Center for the Arts in Beaver Dam, WI. She had started a writers group at the Seippel Center, where she led that group for ten years. She also became the writers group leader at the Beaver Dam Senior Center and served as a columnist for a local arts and culture magazine, LocaLeben. Karla pursued writing outside of her professional careers and has two books published, dozens of plays and articles, and has many editing and publishing credits to her name. Karla joined the Hamburg Arts committee as a volunteer upon moving to PA and soon served as chairperson. Karla also brought the idea of Artdrenoline Youth Art and Sports Camp with her from Wisconsin to implement in Hamburg. She's a volunteer for the Hamburger Festival and active at St. John's Lutheran Church of Hamburg, where her husband is the pastor. She's also served on the Hamburg Borough Council. Karla loves supporting artists and the arts!
